Unfortunately schooling has become an impossible outcome for many families like ours. Driving or busses to greymouth is the resolution. Options aren't viable with the school being biais in hokitika. Hostile environment, a seen and not heard unwritten rule for the survival of students. Who you are and where you fit in society matters here.

School is mindful of the wellbeing of its faculty, benefactor students and mainstream students beware the well worded promotional hype its not the reality of the ethos of the school. Poor quality resolutions of bullying and the overall standards are poor. its more a cover up than a cure. I have learned that Stand and be heard is seen as defiance and punishments aren't fit for perceived crimes. If they decide your trouble or high maintenance they don't value resolutions , agenda based and personally driven resolutions that suit the school not students. Make no mistakes bullying is alive and well Westland high

Westland Hugh school is a terrible school, has absolutely destroyed my child’s wellbeing targeting her with excessive punishments refusing to investigate anything brought to their attention but when they can falsely accuse her backed up with an improper investigation and lack of integrity, accountability and bias behavior to punish her, to suit their vendetta, this school well renowned for targeting certain individuals and railroading them out of school, also teachers who viciously bully with remarks like I don’t wanna look at your face, do not value education but instead value control as I see other reviews having same experience. Immoral , improper, derogatory environment toxic environment do not recommend this school at all, it has only survived because there is no competition it is the only school available, if you value your children’s mental wellbeing and education boycot this school if you can.

Westland high school is the worst school I’ve attended over my years of schooling, they constantly target certain students and give unfair punishments. I would not recommend parents to send their children to this school. This is a place of control and not education
