Waitaki Boys' High School

has been excellent for our son, great opportunities for him to get involved in out of classroom, sport and culture. High expectations in classes and when he has needed some help staff have been supportive. Good communication with parents. We had some concerns but are very happy with our decision.

Very strong focus on sports, the rector (principal) even made himself the head of sport. Should probably have more focus on academics but they do cater well for those who school isn't right for them. Uniform and canteen are both very expensive for a mid-decile state school. ($300 blazers which are compulsory in yr 13). Some teachers cannot handle a class so I advice changing classes if you get mr F******* for math, Mr S**** for science, or Ms P******* for ag because you won't achieve anything. I wouldn't consider sending my kids here after my experience and lack of action when it comes to bullying, racism, misogyny and homophobia.

This is almost the worst school you could send your child to. The stuff that goes on is almost along the lines of sexual harassment. Please do your child a favor and send them to St Kevin's Collage

The school itself is good other than the new phone ban, but some of our teachers are so useless and can't keep control of there class rooms. There are just some people who aren't fit to be teachers. The canteen is getting more expensive every year and then the school complained that students where sneaking to new world to get there lunch because they can't afford the canteen.
