Taupō Family Playcentre

Unique to New Zealand, Playcentre is truly a wonderful place with the awesome opportunity to be present in the ECE setting alongside your child while they learn through play. It's a child led space where you are the teacher/kaiako, which is incredible as we are their 'first teachers' as their parents. At Taupo Family Playcentre, they have amazing outdoor space, and every resource you could want, covering the "16 play areas" and more. You child never has to worry about the drop off as you stay with them. My kids couldn't be happier having this as their sole ECE preschool experience. As it caters to 0-6 years, all ym kids can be there together which has really cut out multiples drop off/pick up locations. As it only runs for half day sessions, it compliments home life well without exhausting the child. It offers free adult education which has helped me learn about how my child learns and has hugely boosted my confidence in being a kaiako in that setting and in my general parenting as well. I've made lifelong friends here as all the parents stay with their tamariki and we really journey together. Taupō Family Playcentre offers nature sessions weekly, excursions, Kapa Haka festival performances, weekly waiata sessions, child led play, hands on baking with kids and so so more. Highly recommend.
