The teachers are practicing complete domination on the students before moving to the world.

Some of the teachers say and do extremely inappropriate stuff, and the administrators always make the student apologise. Most of the teachers don't know how to teach, and just show up to school for total submission from the students.

One teacher takes girls out to McDonald's (alone) without telling their parents. My class got together and wrote a complaint on someone's account to send to the teacher. Surprise Surprise. That brave person who sent the Gmail had to write an apology, and the behavior didn't stop.

Also, one of the teachers caught a different girl on their phone, and had to hand it over. The teacher looked through this girl's messages until she found something "inappropriate." Then this teacher walked up to the girl's friend and told her that the girl she had taken the phone off showed her the messages. This ruined a friendship, and then the teacher followed my class for a full day to ask for the other girl's phone to check if she was appropriate. I don't even know what was on the phone, but nothing could deserve the way the teacher acted.

The assembly speeches are either toxic or unnecessary. In other words, we were once told that we have to always be happy, and as an example, if your boyfriend breaks up with you, be happy because now you have more time to study. Or the speech about how school is not the time or place to pick your socks, because if you choose your own socks, somehow this is an insult to the school.

The canteen and students are the only things lifting this school to a 2-star.

I ACTUALLY HATE THIS SCHOOL SM, people here basic as hell, they are racists, homophobics, and bullies, I literally cant stand being excluded every SINGLE time in PE by those popular ass girls, and I also saw teachers aids gossiping with them and they ARE ACTUALLY NOT DOING THEIR JOB. They laugh at you when you like sth different like bro why cant you actually face reality that some people arent basic and boring.
Those girls CANT STOP bothering my other friend who is lesbian THEY PMO SO MUCH I literally wanted to kick their faces and tell them to go away.
ALSO they were being SO LOUD IN CLASS THAT I CANT EVEN DO MY WORK PROPERLY AND I HAVE TO ASK to work outside.
also those people are being so disrespectful towards the teachers, interupting the classes andn cannot stop giggling around and its just so ANNOYING. I heard one of the girls in my class said the 'H' word towards the teacher and others just started giggling LIKE WHAT. he's literally one of the best maths teachers in this school im not even kidding and those girls being so rude actually pmo so badly

the canteen prices are bullshit im not joking w u buddy like 80 dollars and half of your soul for a week year old frozen muffin ok besides that um one of the sos teachers i HEARD he took a girl out for mcdonalds ALONE in school time when he was supposed to be in class. i also SAW him buy like 10 guys something from the canteen he ALSO amkes empty promises about buying girls mcdonalds


I honestly think the school is alright though some of the teachers are geninuely ass, I've had multiple bad teachers where I didn't understand them the statements they made were too comprehensive and I struggled to understand what they wanted, I had a teacher he was my social studies teacher for the first half of the year, I could barely understand what they wanted myself to do and when he wanted us to write something i found it extremely hard because he told us to just write a paragraph not breaking down anything at all.

This school has been awesome so far. In just three terms I’ve already been able to join in heaps of things and grow so much. There have been loads of sports opportunities too, like playing cricket and football, which have been really fun and a great way to get involved.

i go here this school is super bad, bathroom vaping everywhere cant even take a piss, the tampon machine is always empty and theres likely open pads on the walls, the science teacher is really annoying and wont quit the yap, population is 99% bundy, the classroom smells like poo sometimes, only 2 day pride month, you cant draw in your books for some reason even if you have free time, you cant ask teachers questions because you need to find the answers on your own apparently even if its about the assessment, have been told off for drinking water, also not allowed to have water bottle near you the school is dehydrated thats why everyones mean, also random men will just be walking through the hallways at random intervals, also avoid old lady if yourre wearing anything cool she will start passive agressively telling you SHE LIKS YOUR EARINGS she DOESNT, oh and also shell stare into your soul. the school makes you pay stupid amounts for school trips and its MANDATORY like you cant even skip it, you have to do it for the assement and if you dont you just like fail. hates poor people. discrimination everywhere cant be gay or not white or neurodivergent or yull get made fun of, ALSO canteen prices are so high you could probably pay around 90 bucks for a burnt ass cookie that looks like dookie, not to mention a million dollars for like one piece of pineapple, also the assembly is so long the speaches are clearly written by chatgpt and the voice of the people reading them also sounds like robot and slow and horrible and i almost fell asleep in assembly, the deans death stare you and you always feel like youre in trouble, plates and utensils in the food making area ALWAYS NASTY AND SMELL LIKE SHIT, art teacher ruins the art and draws mustache on your portrait and says hes fixing the mouth but hes not and now it looks like mario and really bad. the grass is musty and if you fall down you will scrape you knee on the grass and get a muddy bum simultaneously, also theres toilet paper all over the floor of the toilet and mysterious puddles probably pee, also one time i found 3 boxes of condoms behind the pad bin thing and i think that means people are being freaky in the bathrooms TOO freaky school also, removed my handsome man picture FROM THE FLOOR i cant belivve it, STOLE OUR EMU CULT LOCKER. uh ad thats not all but i cant be bothered writing more dont send ur kids here or else you wanna loose five hundered braincells being in this facility i can say this i go here. japanese teacher is cool

Great if you want to turn out a totally average child who’s encouraged to toe the line and totally conform. Great if you’re the type of parent who’s ok with teachers on power trips, who bother to obsess over what type of socks the girls wear (in the name of life skills). Not only is OGHS *rife* with bullying, they fancy themselves as if they’re a private school. Obnoxious relic of what should be a bygone era

Don't go here it is awful I was only here for 2 terms worst 2 terms ever teachers only care about overachievers everyone else is left behind. I hated coming here and wanted to leave constantly people vape skip and leave the school teachers don't notice or care. I have left now and couldn't stand it any longer and it wasn't like the school cared probably barely noticing I was there.

As a current student at this school, I am very proud to learn here. There are a huge variety of opportunities in academic, sport and cultural activities with many leadership roles such as prefects, house leaders and whanau leaders as well as multiple student lead councils being the arts, school, wellbeing and a group working on the environment. I highly recommend learning here but it is a very big school (around 900 students) and the assemblies can get quite long. OGHS can be quite expensive with their uniforms, and stationery tends to be a bit costly but in my opinion it is worth it. My only critiques would be the school as a whole being more organised and have more communication between everyone. Overall I am proud to be a student here and I think the education is very good especially for high achievers. I hope this is helpful.

Fantastic school with great staff who genuinely care about every single student.

I attended Otago Girls a couple of years ago, and absolutely loved my time there. The school has such a supportive culture and such a huge variety of opportunities to take advantage of. I believe I have been able to succeed in further education because of the skills and learning I received there, and would highly recommend it.

They have turned a blind eye to all the abuse and racism in the school. Every single year Muslim girls are being beaten at the school and treated as less than. They have been called the most derogatory names in the dictionary. Worst of all they keep ignoring it and acting like the school is so great.
