Marina View School

Marina view is absolutely amazing. They have excellent academic programmes, and because the teachers are so fun and enthusiastic about teaching, as well as being extremely qualified, the lessons are incredibly well planned and genuinely fun to attend. Specifically in the year 5-6 and 7-8 range is where it starts to get really exciting, as the science, tech, sport, and other extra curricular activities get massive upgrades and all of the teachers are incredibly supportive. Thankfully due to its smaller numbers, it’s very easy to be recognised if you are a focused and motivated student. They will focus on the kids who are willing to learn and out the effort in and push them to where they need to go. My ONLY complaint is that it is lacking in the music and drama department. The lessons are often repetitive and overly simplistic, so it doesn’t help you learn new information. However, that wasn’t the schools fault specifically. The teacher they had in that department, Marian Sinclair, was a terrible teacher with an awful attitude. However, she isn’t there anymore, and they seem to be changing the music department, so if you’re interested to go there, I highly advise you to attend. I’ve made some excellent friends and the senior/intermediate teachers are VERY good at not only teaching but also the high school transition. Their recommendation letters, reports and other comments are incredibly supportive, positive, and just truly so sweet. The leadership opportunities are also phenomenal, as they will often do yearly trips around the country based around historic information. Not only is it a fun weekend away with close friends, but you get to know a little bit more about the history of New Zealand too. I highly recommend Marina View!

It’s a really fun place to learn and you gain lots of knowledge throughout your time here. The teachers are amazing and are willing to help you with almost anything, some even give you a hug if you need it. I would absolutely recommend it for any parent looking for a school for their child.

A really great school. We have a lot of fun here but we also get the work done. The teachers and other students are really respectful. There are a lot of different activities that the different year groups do that make it really interesting to see what the differences are each year. Would recommend it for any parent looking for a school for their child.
