Green Island School

Green Island had its pros and cons like any school, but I really enjoyed my time in Green Island. Pros: The school is small enough to know most people The school helps financially (free lunches, haggling down field trip prices, the school has a second-hand, cheap uniform shop in the office, etc.) The uniform is comfy There are a lot of cheapish field trips United Community PE and sport Cons: Bullying (the same goes for every school) Some teachers aren't that great Poorer community Students swearing Better education at other schools Small library Small playground The free school lunches were REALLY bad The main reason why I enjoyed Green Island was that I found very close friends who lasted over one year for the first time. This may be influenced by the fact that I moved a lot when I was younger, stopping me from keeping friends, but Green Island was the place for me.

Sadly when the new principal took over for Green island school 2 years ago the school turned to custard, this school favours the bully's and turns a blind eye to the horrific things that are happening in the school grounds both of my children have been pulled out from this school due to safety reasons my oldest child was severely bullied and inappropriately touched on several occasions by another child and sadly the principal and teachers all turned a blind eye even when the offending child admitted to it, nothing was done. My youngest child 7 was stabbed with a sharpened stick in the play ground by another 7 year old the school even has camera footage of the incident but principal was due to catch a flight that night so didn't want to deal with it until 2days later, the child that attacked mine was stood down for one day. If you want somewhere safe to send your child to school then I would definitely not recommend Green Island School.

Brought my children here from another school and wish I had of done it sooner. The principal is fantastic, the school has many supports available if needed. Many sports and extra curriculum activities available. It's a place kids gets kids excited about. They make learning and participating fun.
