mid tbh

teachers make it, getting a great teacher is 50/50 though, with some being incredible and others being harder to deal with. the good teachers are held in high regard among students though, being very respected. the environment is clique orientated, making it quite hard to fit in with groups (though I assume every school is like this). the school has become a lot more welcoming to queer and trans people during my time there. bullying is defiantly common to say the least. with there being many stories of parents pulling kids out of school due to the lack of action. the boys bathrooms suck, as they've given up on repairs and seemingly cleaning. girls are much better. there are a few gender neutral bathrooms too, the ones in c block being horrific. canteen prices keep going up, I remember when it was low-key affordable in early 2020 pre covid. more affordable to go to new world down the road. new principal may change things coming from OB's.

Average

Education is alright for a rural school doing NCEA. Pretty relaxed teachers who will just set you things on Google Classroom and sit down. Run down buildings and no air conditioning in nearly all classrooms with hot summer.

Complete leadership and cultural change required

Dunstan High School has incompetent leadership who does nothing to alleviate the appalling culture within the school. There is next to no consequences for bad behaviour, and discipline is unheard of.
The extreme level bullying at this school is systemic and there is a correlation between the culture at the school and the culture within Alexandra itself. i If a student is not born in Alexandra then they are automatically labelled an outsider and excluded/shunned.
Avoid this school.
