ACG Strathallan

I was a former student at ACG Strathallan until recently.

If you are considering enrolling your child at this school, please reconsider.

The teachers and staff at ACG Strathallan are, in my experience, underqualified and alienate their students. For example, there was a science teacher who taught multiple classes for approximately seven months. I was involved in his Year 10 class. He appeared severely underqualified for the position and had little to no experience. After some time, and following numerous reports from students and parents, a teacher aide eventually had to attend his classes. They found that the information he was providing was misleading and often completely incorrect, causing them to step in and take over the class. After his seven-month tenure, students found themselves incredibly far behind in their course material, leading to a significant portion of these students failing their end-of-year examinations. However, the problem was not addressed sufficiently, the issue was not resolved, and students were not compensated.

Another occasion I, along with many others, experienced involved an English teacher who still teaches at the school to this day. She was incredibly inconsiderate and arrogant. She often viewed herself as being above the other students, to the extent that she would insult people's cultures, traditions, and religions. My friend, who would like to remain anonymous, was repeatedly targeted and made to feel alienated because of his South Asian descent. The teacher made inappropriate and offensive assumptions regarding his family.

For example, when our class held a shared lunch, my friend thoughtfully brought Vietnamese spring rolls to share with the class. The teacher then claimed that the food was unsanitary and violated the classroom's health restrictions. She claimed that something as simple as rice paper and vegetables constituted a health hazard. Meanwhile, she allowed chicken schnitzel, which, to my understanding, could potentially have been undercooked and unsafe to eat, yet it did not violate these classroom "health restrictions." I argued the matter with her, and she provided the option for my friend to sit outside alone and instructed him not to share his food with any of his peers. Her overall arrogance and racist remarks made me and my classmates feel unwelcome and unable to express our cultures and identities.

Bullying was also very apparent at ACG Strathallan. In my experience, little to no action was taken to support students who experienced bullying. One of the worst examples involved a young girl in my class whose private photographs were shared online amongst many students. Students, both male and female, often joked about and teased her, sometimes even showing her the photographs themselves.

It was later discovered that there was a social media group consisting of many teenagers within the school that stored and distributed "leaked" photographs of innocent girls who were completely unaware that these images were being shared amongst other students. When these girls found out about the situation, in many cases, they reached out to staff and faculty. Little to no action was taken to prevent or punish the students involved for their actions.

One of the female victims reportedly resorted to drug use, which, after a prolonged period of time, resulted in her overdosing during school hours on two separate occasions. Instead of receiving adequate support, the girl was expelled, and, in my view, the school took little to no accountability. Honestly, disgraceful.

Lastly, it has been made known that the school hired a pedophile who, while employed at Strathallan, reportedly contacted and engaged in sexual activity with a young teenage boy near the school grounds. This is public information that can be independently researched.

ACG Strathallan is, in my opinion, a pathetic excuse for a school that hides behind its prestigious price tag. Over the years, the cost of schooling has increased dramatically, while the quality of education and level of care have deteriorated.

Do not send your child to this school.

staff care more about your earrings then your quality of mental health and education

Some teachers put minimal effort into caring for their students, some are unapproachable, some don't know what they are doing and need students to help them.

School doesn’t care about mental health at all. School councillor was “too busy” to see any more students. No time for any extra curricular actives at all , don’t even attempt. You can barely finish all your work without doing any sports or arts. Don’t recommend.

I love this school, I just entered and the people were so welcoming and there easy of education is top notch.
