Hutt International Boys' School

Lots of things about this school are mid but academics sports music challenge teachers and opportunity are great making it best school in Wellington.To start with the teacher for the most part are good but some could be better at there job and teach kids something and be more organised imo.Now the toilets they are decent but they need to do more about vapers and get better toilet roll.The classrooms themselves are really good except the science rooms are mid in some.The canteen food is decent but they shouldn't make it 1 line at the end of the year and please better hygiene.In terms of equal rights idk sometimes there rasict especially to non Christian students.The uniform rules are stupid why do we have to change our hair and why do we have a tie in term 3 and 2 everything else about it’s mid.I don’t like the new uniform rules the new principal set imo and let us wear whatever shoes and socks we want.The office kinda sucks I was late twice in one week for family issues and got told to my housemaster to give me a detentions which he didn’t after I explained everything.Also lost property being only open on Thursday’s is mid.In terms of bullying it’s Great but sometimes they don’t handle racism well also they need to understand kids make jokes about each other and can have roasting sessions.The reports are well made and the rewards are nice but I allways fell like I get lower grades then I Deserve and have someone cheack the comments and have Ability to higher are grades If comment sound super good it’s a bit rigid the same kids allways get awards same with top in class like I got all. Excellence for science and I didn’t get top in class and a other kid. Who allways gets it got it .The website is great Overall mid at parts but very good learning opportunity and best school in Wellington

The school has a large emphasis on academics and this causes some students to have a lackluster experience within the classroom. Including myself. While the school has an extensive learning supourt department which does a fantastic job, the teachers do not always continue this type of academic support within the classroom, in some areas are outright useless such as teaching students who do not understand the basics, but they have no problem with teaching thoose students who understand the topic better, the advanced parts of said topic.

The school does have a bit of a problem with bullying but I think that comes down to boys not wanting to come forward rather than the way the school handles it.

With that said. Some of the teachers are absolutely amazing and have a real drive to interact with the students and make their subjects entertaining while teaching the syllabus well. As well as taking care of students during tough times.

School culture is all about brotherhood and while during the younger years this can be hard to see, as you progress through the school this becomes more and more relevant.

As the school does cost a fair bit to go to, it does have very high quality facilities, learning tools and opportunities for school trips and once in a lifetime opportunities.

In conclusion while the school does have its quirks it does provide a great environment where thoose who want to thrive can.

I think that as a student the teachers don’t care about you nor do they have any respect for you. And learning wise, the teachers could do a much better job at teaching you things; if the smart kids know how to do it then the teachers expect you to know how to do it and if you don’t do the work then you get punished or whatever. Another thing is on of my teachers gives me a detention at lunchtime when someone’s else it talking, he just assumes that it is me.

One last thing, is that lots of kids get bullied at a school where parents pay a crap ton of money for you to go there.
