The school for you if you like rules and sports.

Cares way to much about how the public sees the school. Ridiculous rules about hair and uniform that make zero sense such as your hair not being allowed to touch your shirt collar. Teacher quality typically ranges from decent to great. The school puts far more money and effort into rugby and sports in general then anything else but that’s to be expected from Hastings boys high school. Although it would be nice to see some of that money go to proper heating and aircon in the classrooms like what they did in the A block. The school seems to have become a far more hostile place since I first started in year nine with fights and obvious verbal/physical bullying common especially amongst the jr year groups. Deans and deputy headmasters are seemingly unbothered by this disturbing development and worry more about the students vaping with an absurd five day suspension for boys who are caught using electronic cigarettes. However I did enjoy my time at Hastings Boys High School and I feel I got a lot out of my experience there. This is undoubtedly a school for people who are more sporty than artsy but the academic program is still very good. Overall the school is extremely flawed but definitely not terrible.

Hastings Boys’ high school

Cares more about the 1st XV than the actual school body.
Has a past of teachers lying about the actions of students.
Cares about the schools public image more than the academic wellbeing of students (how much students can learn) (trying to look politically correct)

Hastings boys

All the teachers care about the students and are willing to sacrifice their time to help us improve. Great sports development, there is successful excelling academic programs (contrary to popular belief), and it is a brotherhood, everyone has each other’s backs.
